Of all the decisions that must be made when planning a wedding the wedding theme is one that should be decided first in order to guide the other wedding plans. Of course, all couples should have some leeway in their theme choices in case things don't work out as well. Choosing a theme is difficult for some couples, however there are some tips to keep in mind that will ease the wedding theme decision process.

Tip #1 The Couple
The couple will have a huge impact on what wedding theme is chosen. For example, if the couple is fans of the beach then a beach theme might be considered with sand, seashells, and seafood. Or, if the couple is traveling to Hawaii for their honeymoon then the wedding theme might include pineapples, leis, Hawaiian food, hula dancers, and music from the islands. Regardless of the theme, it should reflect the couple and their preferences.

Tip #2 Time of Year
The time of year will also play a role in the wedding theme. For example, a winter wedding is not as appropriate for a beach themed wedding as a summer wedding would be. Likewise, a fall wedding would not lend itself well to more spring minded wedding themes. The time of year will also impact the colors for your wedding as well. Keep this in mind when planning, especially if planning way in advance.

Tip #3 Current Styles
Wedding styles change from year to year, and this might impact your wedding theme as well. Wedding magazines and websites are great places to help you learn the styles of the season and different wedding themes that are popular and appropriate. Of course, a bride-to-be may choose a wedding theme that is not in style per se and still have a beautiful wedding. Style can influence the wedding, however, and give the bride and groom some really good ideas when they are planning the wedding.

While there are many things that affect the type of wedding theme you choose make sure you always keep an open mind and go with the flow. If something does not seem to be working out regarding your theme don’t be discouraged because regardless of the wedding theme you want there is a way to make it work. You just have to be open to new ideas and ways of making your theme work. On the other hand, if you are at a loss for wedding theme ideas you can always use the Internet to help you come up with different wedding themes you like and that would be appropriate for the time of year, style, and reflective of you and your fiancé’s tastes.
