Elton John is getting married. In perhaps the highest profile gay marriage to date, the couple has selected the highest profile wedding site you can imagine - Windsor - where Prince Charles and Princess Camilla recently held their ceremony. No comments from the queen just yet.
Gay marriages are not legal in England, but they do have provisions for "civil partnerships".
Elton John will be marrying his long time partner David Furnish. A date has not been publicized just yet, but it will be before the end of the year. The earliest date that the marriage could occur would be December 21st - because of british legal requirements.
There will be no honeymoon because of Mr. John's tour schedule.
"Meeting David has been the greatest thing to happen to me. Yes, we spend a lot of time apart and it's hard, but we make it work," Elton John is quoted as saying, "We phone each other five or six times a day and we still send each other a card from wherever we are."
Elton John has been married before. The singer had wed German music engineer Renate Blauel in 1984 but they divorced four years later.
