You may have thought that June was the most popular month for weddings. Hallmark (and who better to trust than Hallmark) says differently.
The new hot month to get married is August, which has crept into the lead over the last three years. No month is a clear leader, though, with August maintining just slightly more than 10 percent of all weddings, and June less than a percentage point behind.
Another interesting statistic is the top wedding city in the world. Las Vegas? nope. The city that never sleeps comes in second place, over 50,000 weddings behind Istanbul. Las Vegas can still claim leadership in one category though - with nearly 40,000 weddings a year presided over by an Elvis impersonator, Las Vegas is the top place to be wed by The King.
The average wedding cost in the US is growing at a phenominal rate. Currently, the US average is over $22,000.00. New York is the nations leader in expense with the average New York Wedding costing over $40,000.00
On a sad note, we recently wrote about the Arrowsmith couple celebrating their record breaking 80th Wedding Anniversary. Percy Arrowsmith died yesterday at the age of 105.
