Thanks to a Crimestoppers tip, Durham police have arrested a man they believe scammed a bride-to-be on the eve of her wedding cruise.
In North Carolina, a bride payed a longtime family friend for a bus charter to Miami - where her and her family were planning to go on a cruise for her wedding.
The bus never showed, and several family members ended up not being able to make the trip. A few were able to buy emergency plane tickets, but at great expense. Those who could not make it ended up losing their trip deposits for the cruise.
The family friend disappeared, but thanks to Crimestoppers - a tip line run by a local news station - he was found and arrested. It is unlikely that the bride will recover the more than $2000.00 that she gave to this man, nor is it likely that her family members will be repaid for their financial loss.
On the bright side, the wedding did go on as planned (albeit with a smaller audience), and the bride looked beautiful.
