If you are a wedding industry professional, there is a new and booming market out there that is growing like no other - Iraq. Since the ousting of Saddam Hussein, the number of weddings in Iraq has soared to record levels. The important thing is that more and more people are celebrating their live's and future together.
Many marriages in Iraq are aranged, but there is a growing number of voluntary weddings throughout the community. Dj's and high end florists are in demand and many are complaining that they do not have enough resources to keep up with their customer base. These same business owners talk of hard times during the pre-war days - when they would go months without customers.
Staff shortages also afflict courhouses, and often they have to turn away couples seeking marriage licenses because they cannot keep up with the paperwork. The number of marriages has more than quadrupled in the country.
One big change is that during Hussein's reign, men needed the government's permission to wed. Another is that the new economy is much stronger than that under Hussein's reign and finding a job is easier.
The country's most popular tv show is a reality show focused on weddings.
