The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa has celebrated more than 72,000 weddings and attracts as many as 60,000 tourists in a given year.
This year it is celebrating it's 150th Anniversary.
The church itself was made famous by the song "The Church in the Wildwood" by William Pitts which was performed by the Weatherwax Brothers in the early 1900's.
It still has many of its original features - pine and walnut pews, brass lamps (converted from the original oil burning variety to electric lamps) and it's old organ with a worn-out pedal.
The congregation today is approximately 100 strong. People from around the world still travel their for weddings. This August about 600 people are expected to renew their marriage vows in an anniversary festivity.

The Loretto Chapel has an even richer history than the little brown church. It's located in Santa Fe and was built in 1878. It has a "miraculous staircase" with no visible means of support, believed to be built by St. Joseph, the Carpenter. The chapel is non-denominational and quite beautiful. My parents got the chance to renew their wedding vows this last August, 2005 at the 150th reunion. They celebrated their 54th anniversary. It was so cool to be able to be there with them. Even their Best-man, and Maid-of-Honor were there to help them celebrate, I'm from Alaska, and visited my parents last summer. The look of Love in their faces, will forever stay in my mind. If ever we all could be so fortunate as they. God Bless, The Little Brown Church! And God Bless My Parents, for their undying, Love and strength. I cherish you both!!!!!!
