Christos Yiannakou has been designing wedding dresses for over 35 years. He describes his line-up as elegant, understated, and fashionable. Softness, tradition, and romance are the underlying themes that he puts to work in his line of wedding gowns.

His dresses are on the expensive side, but the reason for the cost is quite obvious, even without considering that Christos himself maintains such close control over the design and preparation of his dresses. It's hard not to feel like a princess in one of Christos' gowns.

This season, handmade embroidery, intricate handbeaded laces, and sheer silks are essential pieces in the majority of his wedding dresses.

They say that Yiannakou has a sixth sense for what a bride wants to war. His gowns are certainly unique. Designers admire his integrity for maintaining personal control over his designs and not farming out the tough work to a team of assistants. He has received the Life Achievement Award from Bridal Guide Magazine.

Pricing for a made to order Christos Gown runs from $1700 to $4400, and the wedding dresses are available in sizes 4 to 20.

For viewing at a retail outlet, the approved stores are few and far between. The entire state of California only has four approved stores, whereas the great bridal center of New York has a grand total of 8. A store locator and online "virtual salon" (catalog) is available here
