More articles on the Wedding Dresses topic: General Info
Weddings are getting more and more expensive. It doesn't help that a tradition has crept up recently that means you will need more than one dress on your wedding day.
Most likely, on your wedding day, you will be wearing your wedding dress, and a separate dress for the reception. One that is a little more comfortable, and maybe just a little bit easier to dance in.
You can certainly get by with one dress, but having another dress to slip into before or during the reception is a matter of comfort for most brides. It's also one more reason that wedding guests need to be sure and wear something that won't take attention away from the bride - no red dresses, nothing too fancy (fashionable is good, but the bride should always be the most noticable lady at a wedding).
Many wedding dress designers - like Vera Wang and Matthew Williamson make dresses appropriate for both situations - though the less formal dresses are often in the category of cocktail dress rather than wedding dress.
Does it end at two? Maybe, maybe not. There's still the wedding rehearsal dinner if you are having one, engagement photographs, and yet another one for the segment of brides who participate in multiple weddings on their wedding day (frequently brides have a cultural wedding and a traditional wedding). Think things are getting out of hand? Think about the bridesmaids as well. When thinking about bridesmaids dresses, it is best to consider selecting something that they can get some use of outside of your wedding - at least to be able to re-use the skirt or shoes, so they can feel better about the costs they are putting out.
