Wedding Dresses : General Info

More articles on the Wedding Dresses topic: General Info

Just a heads up to our current website visitors. We will be announcing a wedding dress giveaway in the very near future. Keep checking back at this page in the upcoming weeks for the announcement and details.

Read on for more info.

I put this web site together a little over a year ago. I've spent a lot of time working on site design, planning for the future, working on all sorts of webmastery things.

I think that one area that this site is lacking is content. As my work obligations have gotten more cumbersome the last several months, I haven't been writing very many articles. So in order to spur on a little bit of community involvement and to help make this site better, I came up with the following idea:

I'm going to give away a wedding dress in a drawing. In order to be entered in the drawing, you must write an article about wedding dresses. The article need not be extremely long - right now I'm thinking somewhere between 500 words on up - which equates to just a few paragraphs. The subject matter isn't too important, as long as it is of general interest to the wedding dress community (i.e. brides, designers, salon owners, etc.) If a bride has already purchased her wedding dress, then we will pay her what she paid for the dress, up to a maximum prize value.

The end result should be that our community will grow, we'll have a bunch of interesting articles that you can come back and read, and one lucky bride out there will have some budget relief and a beautiful dress.

In the upcoming weeks, we're going to be working out the details - terms and conditions, how to promote the wedding dress giveaway, etc. Keep checking back and you'll see an announcment.

If you want to start working on an article now, here are a few ideas for things that we'd like to see:

  • funny anecdotes about your wedding dress, wedding dress shopping, etc.

  • If you are searching for information that you didn't find at our site today, maybe write an article about that so that we can have that information for future visitors

  • information about different designers, retailers, or wedding dress web sites

  • helpful shopping tips regarding wedding dresses

  • information about the decision making process you are going through in regards to your wedding dress or your bridesmaids dresses

This isn't a comprehensive list. Like I said before, anything about wedding dresses is going to work (within some yet to be determined, but reasonable parameters - i.e. we might reject an article that is very negative, or if it is plagiarized)

I would be surprised if the announcement of this wedding dress giveaway came later than 1/31/2006. I don't expect a miraculous response - so even if we got 1000 participants, your odds of winning a wedding dress would be much better than spending a buck on a lotto ticket - all for spending an hour or two (or maybe even less) putting a few words down that would be helpful or interesting to your fellow brides out there.

Wedding Dress Giveaway Commentary

Are all persons eligible to win this Wedding Dress?
Males? Crossdressers? Transvestites? Woman of course and most logically.
If you read my blog you'll see what I'm talking about. I'd like nothing more than to renew my vows with my wife while dressed in a "won" Wedding Dress. There is a large and growing community of men on the internet who love wearing traditionally womans wear e.g. lingerie, wedding dresses etc. I'll make sure they are aware of your contest.

I'm not one to discriminate. I am considering restricting the giveaway to U.S. residents because of the problems in ensuring that a prize is delivered properly overseas. I've seen a great deal of scams on the web that were enabled because the criminal was outside of the country. But that is a decision I have yet to make.

I'm in the UK, so if you decide to restrict the giveaway to the USA only then I shan't be writing for you! Shame really - I'm sure I could write something interesting.

I think dresses should go back to some conservativism, not all that cleavage for the priest to stare into. Who wants to look at girls armpits anyway? There arm up in the air, sweating from excitement, backs and just off the shoulders are romantic. Then the young boys, girls, children get a faceful when the bride bends down to talk and that's all in their face!!!

How much is the wedding dress amount? Also, where do we submit writings to? Thank you.

We have agreed on an amount of $1500, but we have yet to implement a story submission system. It's one of my priorities right now. I don't have a solid timeframe at the moment, but I expect that it will be within the next two weeks if not sooner.
