Flowers are a part of every wedding, and having a beautiful bouquet is a given in every bride's fantasy wedding. Settling for just any old floral arrangement isn't going to cut it. Before even finding a florist, you must consider the kind of wedding you want. Are you planning something simple where a simple, beautiful arrangement of freshly cut flowers would be appropriate, or are you planning a formal wedding which would require a more formal bouquet and accompanying arrangments?
Like everything else in a wedding, you must set yourself a budget. Put together ideas about the types of flowers and colors that you would like to see. Spend some time at florists checking out their goods (during the appropriate time of year) to get an idea of what flowers you like. Other resources that are appropriate would be bridal magazines, gardening books, nurseries, and any appropriate magazines you can pick up at your local Barnes and Nobles.
Take pictures or clippings of what you like - it will be much easier to communicate with the florist if they can see what you are talking about.
Seasons are a definite consideration. Out of season flowers are difficult to find and more expensive than other flowers. If you are getting married in late February, Roses are very inexpensive; late January and roses aren't even an option.
