I've been working on an online wedding registry for use here at bkweddings.com. So far everything is going smoothly. We will be launching a bevy of utilities including this registry soon.
There is definitely an unserved market out there. There are registries all over the place - but there isn't a retailer-agnostic wedding registry available. The few online registries I've found have all been centered around either advertising or selling through a particular vendor. I'm surprised that resources don't exist, but the fact remains that everybody in the wedding industry is out to make a buck with few evangelists out there just trying to do what they can to help the community.
