Wedding Invitations and Announcements
This is an interesting page that has some decent information that will provide food for thought. Although you might not agree that invitations must be printed in black ink on white paper, it is worth the 30 seconds it takes to get through this one.
An excerpt:
The names of those invited, including a couple's children if they are also invited, are written out in full on the inner envelope. This inner envelope is then enclosed in an outer envelope that bears the handwritten names of all invited and their address, without abbreviations.
That's right folks... you should write out the names of everyone invited. Children are not always welcome at weddings, and even if you think it's a given that they would come it still would make the parents happier and more comfortable if you included their children specifically in the invite.
Another Exerpt:
Wedding announcements usually are sent to people who would like to know about the wedding but who would not be expected to attend.
Typically announcements are sent after the fact. If you have a small wedding, you will probably have a large wedding announcment list.
