Wedding Planner gets to Makeover Richmond

Mayor L. Douglas Wilder has tapped "Tommie" Binga as the executive director of a new volunteer board created to provide a unified vision and lead the charge to spiff up River City.

Binga has been on the boards of the Richmond Ballet, the Arts Council, the Black History Museum, the Virginia Commission on Youth and the Virginia Treatment Center for Children, among many others.

Plaza Wedding Planned During Renovations

Melvin and Caren Hilman say the Famous Plaza Hotel in New York City booked their daughter's wedding for July even though they had planned on being closed for renovations — a fraudulent move that cost the parents an extra $90,000 and caused them "severe emotional distress."

The Plaza is quoted as seeking a "reasonable settlement".

Apparently, all those couples meeting online are starting to get married. Wedding books are starting to get more popular, while online dating is on a steady decline.

Some of the more popular books are Wedding Planning, indicating a surge in nuptial spending, and also that all of you planning weddings are doing your homework instead of relying on what friends and family have to say.
