What guidelines exist for cleaning a wedding ring?
Gold and platinum are durable metals and will resist being damaged by most chemicals.
Diamonds like being cleaned in any household cleaners - most window cleaners and will do fine. If you can take the smell, adding a dash of ammonia to some dishwashing liquid is an option that will work well.
It also is not a bad idea to addding some boiling water to your cleaning solution in a cup.
Brush the diamond up with a soft toothbrush, and then give it a good rinse. Make sure the drain is covered before you do any rinsing.
Having your ring professionally polished puts some serious wear on the ring - equivalent to about six months of normal wear and tear. It makes the ring shiny, but we suggest leaving professional polishings for special occasions.
