More articles on the Wedding Rings topic: General Info
Here's an interesting piece of information I came accross. Wedding bands have been worn for centuries by grooms, but only recently did the tradition become widely in use.
Although european grooms have a much longer history of wearing the rings, it was American grooms that brought the tradition to its current position as a wedding standard.
They became more popular during the second world war, when american soldiers sought to carry a token of home along with them. Wedding rings were the perfect solution - a romantic remembrance of your loving wife, small enough to carry during travels and not become to cumbersome, and strong enough to withstand the vigors of the battle field.
