Platinum has a rich lustre that allows it to reflect diamonds and other stones very well. These qualities make it an ideal choice for engagement and wedding rings.
They are becoming more and more popular among celebrites - like Danielle Spencer (Russel Crowe's bride), Jackie Titone (Adam Sandler), Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, Melissa Etheridge.
Also becoming popular are colored gemstones. Yellow and Pink diamonds are becoming more desirable.
Whether it is an antique or estate style ring, or something with a more modern twist - platinum is growing in popularity and it looks to be a new standard along side traditional gold or white gold.
Because of its purity, platinum - found in only a handful of places around the world - doesn't fade or tarnish. It remains what it has always been: a symbol for all things eternal. Platinum is not immune to scratching, however. You still have to take care of the ring, just like you still have to take care of your marriage - no matter how solid the relationship.

Platinum with a satin finsih is wonderful for setting for small fancy color diamonds and sapphires. Small pink diamonds are particularly beautiful when set in satin-finished platinum band.
