No Nepotism

The Queen of England is doing the unthinkable. Actually, she's not doing much and that's the news. She's resisting political pressure to push through emergency legislation that would clear the way for Prince Charles' wedding.

The Royal Family faces the prospect of a High Court challenge to prevent Charles marrying Camilla Parker Bowles in a register office that would delay the wedding.

Nine formal objections have been lodged with the Registrar General, Len Cook, who must now rule on whether the wedding can go ahead. He is expected to agree with the Lord Chancellor's legal opinion that the Human Rights Act overturns prior legislation forbidding royalty from marrying in civil ceremonies.

It is interesting and sad that a wedding would turn into a political event. It is admirable and, well... royal, to not use the power associated with royalty for the family's benefit. I honestly don't follow politics in England at all, but this action does put the royal family in a good light. Cheers!
